An educational illustration

Small fees.
Repeated over time.

See how two hypothetical annual percentage fees change the same starting pot. This is a maths illustration, not a pension forecast or a product comparison.

Choose assumptions, then compare. No provider prices or future returns are being predicted.

The assumptions are the point.

Each model year applies your chosen growth rate to the pot, then deducts the selected percentage fee. The same rates repeat every year. The formula is starting pot × [(1 + growth/100) × (1 − fee/100)] raised to the number of years.

There are no new contributions, withdrawals, taxes, inflation, fixed charges or transaction costs. Actual investments fluctuate and real schemes may charge differently. The default growth is zero: it is an illustrative setting, not a forecast. Fees A and B are made-up inputs and do not represent provider prices.

Lower fees do not, on their own, establish a pension’s suitability. Benefits, guarantees, investment choices and other charges are outside this model. Do not use it to decide to transfer a pension.
